Instead, everyone has a copy.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">This is basically a blockchain!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"font-bold\">What does \"decentralized\" mean?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The term \"decentralized\" is a key concept of blockchain technology:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"-mt-1 list-disc space-y-2 pl-8\">\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\"><strong>No central authority<\/strong>Unlike traditional systems (such as banks), there is no single entity that controls everything.<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\"><strong>Distributed control<\/strong>Instead, control is distributed among many participants in the network.<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\"><strong>Copies for all<\/strong>Each participant has a complete copy of the blockchain.<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\"><strong>Joint decisions<\/strong>: Changes are made by consensus of the participants, not by a central authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Decentralization makes the system more resistant to failures and manipulation, as there is no single point of attack.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"font-bold\">How does it work?<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"-mt-1 list-decimal space-y-2 pl-8\">\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\"><strong>Blocks of information<\/strong>Instead of having individual pages, our notebook has \"blocks\".
