Modern society - modern slavery?

Modern society - a new form of servitude

Is slavery a picture of the past?

The idea of slavery (servitude) may seem like something of the past, but a closer look at our modern society reveals a frightening number of parallels. From slavery to supposed democracy - how much has really changed? In this article, we analyze the structures that shape the lives of many people and ask: Are we living in a new form of slavery?

From slavery to "democracy" - a fallacy?

The historical development from slavery to democracy appears to be a step forward. But have the mechanisms that restricted people's freedom back then really disappeared?

What were the main characteristics of a slave?

A slave was "paid" with food and a roof over his head - just enough to stay alive. No property, no savings, no chance of an independent life. Sound familiar? Not only slaves lived like this. Even farmers in the Middle Ages who sold their home-grown food at the market had little more than the bare necessities due to high taxes and cruelly enforced laws.

The modern slave state - closer than we think?

What does this picture remind us of? We live in a frighteningly similar society today, where the tax office reduces everything to rubble with enforcement and tax audits on the basis of a simple suspicion. The threat of Cash ban ensures that laws cannot be circumventedand property laws are becoming increasingly absurd. Anyone who does an "honest" job for a third party today will neither become rich nor independent. High taxes force companies to keep wages as low as possible. After all deductions, the worker is left with just enough for the mortgage, a roof over his head and food. How close have we come to the "beautiful" Middle Ages? How much longer until we reach the ultimate image of slavery? It depends on what those in power have prepared for us.

The trap of the social system

We can't seem to defend ourselves. A person living in the EU can barely get by on minimum wage and has to fall back on social security. Will it soon become even more pointless? The current situation is absurd: someone who works and pays taxes often keeps less money than someone who is dependent on the welfare system and takes advantage of all possible social benefits. The goal? No capital accumulation, no savings. Self-employment is severely punished, laziness is encouraged - albeit at the lowest level.

Credit cards and loans

Modern credit systems can lead to financial dependency when people acquire things that they cannot actually afford. A once free person, who could quit their job without worrying and look for a new one in peace, becomes a "slave" to their income. Even with sufficient reserves for a few months, they can no longer quit, as loans still have to be serviced - even if what they bought has long since stopped working or has proved to be unnecessary.

The modern financial system does offer advantages in that it also protects people with low incomes from hunger through credit cards and enables certain conveniences. However, it threatens to lock them into their living situation as long as they are in debt. New opportunities only open up once the loan has been paid off.

The new normal - chaos as standard?

What was once unthinkable is now standard. Questionable political figures and agendas that have nothing to do with financial stability have become an integral part of our world view. Global wars and occasional pandemics mean that we can no longer plan for the future. What's next? A cash ban? Who knows? Sexual "reform", political and economic globalization are plunging our world into chaos from which there seems to be no way out. Mass migration and religious wars are tearing apart once steadfast cultures. The unique characteristics of individual countries and peoples are disappearing into the past.

The AI revolution - the final nail in the coffin of the world of work?

Is AI ready to take over our jobs so that gender- and race-based selection criteria become irrelevant because there are no more jobs for living people? Not yet - but what does the future hold? No serious expert dares to say anymore. What is considered a safe profession for the future? It's hard to say, but doing nothing also means not being able to react quickly when the time comes.

The way out of modern bondage

By and large, people's basic needs have remained unchanged. Even if people currently have a greater need for virtual things and are more reliant on digital services, the motivation remains the same. Ultimately, the winner is the one who recognizes visible and invisible problems in modern culture and learns to solve them. Those who look at reality in a clear and structured way will see what is needed.

Digital for the sake of independence

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and there are still weak points in our financial system that we can turn to our own advantage. One of these weak links is digital professions in connection with a US LLC companieswhich offers so many advantages that it could become a book in its own right. If you use your freedom in time to get out of the satire that our market and financial system has become, you have the chance to create a somewhat more stable foundation for your existence. If you sit on what you have, you may lose without even having started the fight. But if you have no vision and no courage, you probably have no chance either way in this new world of hidden servitude.
